Lamar is a town/city and the governmental center of county of Barton County, Missouri, United States. As of the 2010 census, the town/city population was 4,532. Lamar is well known as the place of birth of President Harry S.

According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the town/city has a total region of 5.43 square miles (14.06 km2), of which, 5.12 square miles (13.26 km2) is territory and 0.31 square miles (0.80 km2) is water.
