Warrensburg is positioned at 38 45 47 N 93 44 06 W. According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the town/city has a total region of 8.92 square miles (23.10 km2), of which, 8.85 square miles (22.92 km2) is territory and 0.07 square miles (0.18 km2) is water. There were 7,450 housing units at an average density of 841.8 per square mile (325.0/km2).

The ethnic makeup of the town/city was 85.3% White, 7.5% African American, 0.5% Native American, 2.8% Asian, 0.2% Pacific Islander, 0.7% from other competitions, and 3.1% from two or more competitions.

There were 6,803 homeholds of which 26.5% had kids under the age of 18 living with them, 36.1% were married couples living together, 10.4% had a female homeholder with no husband present, 3.5% had a male homeholder with no wife present, and 50.0% were non-families.
